Richard, L. – “Bird Scene”

Lee Richard, more commonly known by his nom de plume, L. Richard, was born in South Korea in 1957. Viewing one of L. Richard’s paintings is an overwhelming experience in the best sense. Richard leaves no corner of the canvas blank. When looking at Richard’s work, one’s eyes dance across the canvas, taking in the multi-layered display of hue and color,  from the dazzling yet subdued tones of the tropical foliage to the plumage of the birds. Focusing on natural scenes, the tone of Richard’s work takes on an almost Rococo-esque study and celebration of light and ornamentation, placing this contemporary artist’s skill alongside that of the elite masters of the past.
